Client Brief
EA-RS was engaged by a prominent financial institution located in Canary Wharf following a fire risk assessment that revealed multiple breaches in the building's fire compartmentation across several floors.
Given the high-security nature of the facility and its critical data protection requirements, the client required a solution that ensured minimal disruption and maximum compliance with safety standards.
Project Solution
EA-RS conducted a thorough site survey, leading to a project worth over £220,000. A comprehensive project program was developed, scheduled for up to five months, with all activities planned for night shifts to avoid interrupting the building's operations. The project involved using passive fire batts and fire-rated intumescent mastic to seal multiple and single penetrations, mainly within electrical and mechanical risers.
Each penetration received a unique Seal Identification Label, fully traceable via weekly reports, detailed drawings, and photographs, ensuring compliance with LPS 1531 standards. Additionally, EA-RS installed six sets of fuse link dampers within the AHU plant rooms to automatically close upon heat detection.
Project Result
The meticulous planning and execution of the fire-stopping measures ensured that all breaches were effectively sealed, enhancing the building's safety without compromising its security or daily operations. The client was kept continuously informed through daily updates, weekly meetings, and detailed reporting. The project, valued at over £220,000, was completed on schedule and in full compliance with all safety standards, significantly improving the fire safety of the financial institution’s premises in Canary Wharf.
