Passive fire protection for building owners
Passive fire protection is a main part of any fire safety strategy and is extremely important for limiting damage to buildings and keeping people in them safe. There are many different elements which make up a secure passive fire protection plan, including:
- Specially designed fire doors to help limit the rate at which a fire can spread, by containing the fire, heat and smoke in a single compartment.
- Fire Dampers which are installed into heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) ducts to prevent the spread of fire within the ductwork through fire-resistance rated walls and floors.
- Smoke extract and ventilation systems which are designed to control and vent smoke from escape routes such as corridors, lobbies and staircases.
Legislation places responsibility on building owners, managers, occupiers, and designers to ensure that a building meets the required safety levels when it comes to passive fire protection. With this in mind, in may become overwhelming for a building owner to understand what they need to do, and where they should look to get it done.
Here at EA-RS Passive Fire Protection we use our 25 years’ experience to support building owners with their passive fire protection plans. We are able to help make sure their legal obligations are satisfied and future proofed with fully supported maintenance and installation packages, tailored to suit the environment and use of space in which they operate.
